L'Oreal Colour Riche Caresse Aqua Lip Lacquer($9.99 at rite aid) is the drugstore alternative or a dupe for ROUGE PUR COUTURE Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stain ($34 at Sephora).
The texture is extremely similar if not identical. Both are liquid and
needs to be applied in three layers to get the optimal use out of it. The first
layer gives a stain effect with medium opacity. Allow the first layer to set in
for about 10 seconds then apply the second layer. Let it set and then apply the
third layer. The third layer is opaque and glossy. I noticed the YSL glossy
stain to have a tiny bit of plumping effect on my lips, which I didn't notice
it with the L'oreal. The YSL glossy stain has a sweet/beer smell, whereas the
L'oreal lip lacquer has no scent. There aren't any sticky feeling that most
glosses have and I hate it! The feel is more like in between feeling of a gel
and Vaseline mixed. These are very comfortable to wear.
As for the lasting power, the glossy stain for both stay on
my lips for about 3 hours without eating or drinking. Even after eating and
drinking, I still do have some shine left giving more of a balm look. After 3
hours, the shine begins to fade a little which I like better. The most amazing part is after the glossy
layer comes off, the stain remains and my lips are still hydrated. I don't feel
the need to add something to my lips after the gloss has eaten off. These are
little transferable. The YSL glossy stain and L'oreal lip lacquer is long
wearing and it is good for working women because you will probably have to
retouch once if not at all.

Final verdict: Both
are pretty much identical product except for the huge difference in price tag. I
do prefer the YSL when it comes to the packaging which is in black color with gold
top with YSL logo. The L'Oreal packaging gold which looks nice, but feels cheap. Very
light weight. Both have doe foot applicators which makes the application easy.
The product itself is phenomenon. Something different from what I am used to
and I love it!
